Web development resources
I'm glad to see you're interested in what it takes to
create a web page within the district. This page contains links to
resources created or selected specifically for web page development in our
district. Please look through the resources we have; if they leave
you with even more questions, as they are likely to do, you can also
contact Julie Tiedens for a training
session.
Design Guidelines
To keep our pages looking their best and accessible to everyone, a set of
guidelines has been developed. Among the topics covered are image
size, the use of tables and javascript.
School District Policy
The school board has created a policy regarding our use of the web.
This is the place to go if you have questions about how to use student
names or pictures--or just about anything else. I strongly recommend
reading this document before you start creating pages for our web.
Copyright permission form
Did you know that our students retain copyright on their class work?
We need to ask permission from them to use their work--and it's a great
way to teach them the importance of copyright.
Copyright resources
In selecting and creating resources for our students, we do need to
consider copyright issues. Below you'll find links to a few places
to start reading more about the topic.
Webmaster's maintenance
schedule
Webmasters and those involved in publishing on the school web should keep
in mind our maintenance schedule. Help out your school's webmaster
and keep your links updated!
Link
checker
Speaking of helping our your friendly webmaster--you can check your own
links. Find your home page, copy it's address from your browser, and
type it into form on this page. If you want to check more than just
your first page, check the "Check linked documents recursively" Then, enter how deep you want to check
your links. Click "Check" and sit back. This may
take a little while, but it's worth it.
