Amalia’s Hope Assembly and Community Presentation

At Black River Falls High School, we want to help our students be healthy, happy, and successful adults when they leave our building.  As you may know, heroin and other opioid-related deaths are an increasing problem in Wisconsin, as they are nationally.  Unfortunately, the annual number of heroin related deaths have increased in Jackson County as well. On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, our students will attend an assembly, Amalia’s Hope, focusing on making good choices and pledging to not use drugs or alcohol.  Brigette Henschel’s message is a call to action for students to specifically refrain from using heroin.  Heroin use has increased in our area as a substitute for prescription drug abuse, due to lower cost and easier availability.
