BRF High School Shooting Tigers Compete at Nationals
The National Youth Shooting event was held July 14- 20 at the National Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL. The Black River Falls varsity team qualified by taking runner up at the Wisconsin State Shoot held in June, and Jade Potter qualified by placing 3rd in the JV girls class.
The team finished 44th overall. The top shooter in boys varsity was Jacob Hanson with a total score 169/200, earning him 72nd place overall. Joel Kinder had a total score of 150/200, earning 153rd place.
Matt Brauner finished with a total score of 136/200, earning 192nd place.
In varsity girls Sydney Hanson finished with a total score of 132/200, earning 36th place and Keoinia Dobson finished with a total score of 113/200, earning 45th place. In the JV Girls Division Jade Potter finished with a score of 76/200, placing 24th.
There were over 2,500 shooters at the event participating in the venues of trap, sporting clays and skeet. 715,000 targets were thrown in this week-long event. The Sporting Clays venue the Shooting Tigers participated in included 677 shooters.
The team shot 100 targets each day on two different courses. They represented our community well in shooting and sportsmanship during the event, and some shoot their personal-best scores. As coaches, we were proud of our shooter’s performance, and we are looking forward to next year with our returning underclassmen and new shooters to the sport. The Shooting Tigers will be able to compete in sporting clays and trap in the 2105 season.
