Gebhardt Front Page

Happy New Year!  I wanted to let you know about a few things that are either new or upcoming at Gebhardt.

1. Buzzzzzz in... If you have visited recently you have noticed that we have started locking our doors and utilizing the new security system.  The overall opinion of parents has been extremely positive, I'm so glad that you like it!  I wanted to let you know that the system is still being tweaked and modified.  There are times that Jen or I will push the button to unlock the door - and the system does nothing.  I'm so sorry if you have been stranded out in the cold for a few minutes!  We appreciate your patience and the system will continue to get better and better!

2.  This week is  MAPs testing.  I love watching the kids sit down to the computer knowing exactly what their growth goal is and then celebrating when their score pops up on the screen after the testing!  EIther they are feeling exceptionally proud of themselves, or they are very motivated at the idea of being able to dunk me in the dunk tank this spring!  All students that reach their growth goal in reading and/or math get two softballs to try to dunk me.  Whatever it takes to make a little fun our of some great achievement!

3.  You are cordially invited...January 18th at 10:00 a.m. Gebhardt will be going to the Lunda Theater to hear the national speaker, Jim Jelinske.  He is an anti-bullying speaker, Jim has spoken in Black River Falls in the past.  He is extremely high energy and captivates the kids attention.  As Gebhardt will be the only ones present at 10:00, there is plenty of room in the theater.  If you are available and interested, you are more than welcome to join us!  Sometimes hearing the same language and presentation as your student can be a great conversation starter at home!  If you can come, please just meet us at the middle school just before 10:00.

I hope you are all staying warm!  As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Your partner in education,

Shelly Severson
