Students Win BRFEA Poster Contest

American Education Week—November 18-22, 2013—presents all Americans with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.

Black River Falls elementary students designed posters with the theme “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility”.

Five designs were chosen as the local contest winners. The following winners received a $10 check courtesy of the Black River Falls Education Association:

  • Hannah Tubbs, Kindergarten, Forrest Street Early Learning Center; Daughter of Scott and Heidi Tubbs
  • Ari Rukavina, First Grade, Forrest Street Early Learning Center; Son of Marc and Jenny Rukavina
  • Kaylee Youngthunder, Second Grade, Third Street Elementary School; Daughter of Tara Theiler and Mike Youngthunder
  • Trey Cowley, Third Grade, Third Street Elementary School; Son of David and Tracey Cowley
  • Amira Louise Greengrass, Fourth Grade, Gebhardt Elementary School; Daughter of Airana Youngthunder Salvador Casarez
  • Genesis Cernik, Fifth Grade, Gebhardt Elementary School; Daughter of Jason and Elizabeth Cernik

The posters will be displayed in Black River Falls schools for American Education Week.
