SUPPLEMENTAL READINGS AND ACTIVITIES BY UNIT:

Welcome to US and Global Politics!

USGP is a one semester course designed to help students understand their role as citizens of the various jurisdictions that comprise our political environment.  2012-13 is my 34th year of teaching courses related to history and politics and I look forward to helping my students navigate the challenging world of the early 21st Century.  We recently had a visit from Assemblyman Chris Danou who will be representing western Jackson County in the State Legislature beginning in January of 2013.  You can also follow me on Twitter @PSRykken.

The following links will be helpful as we wind our way through the American past. Some are very specific to the course and you will be directed to them.   Others are more general.

Welcome to AP History 2012-13!

“He who is best prepared can best serve his moment of inspiration.”

Welcome to the rolling hills and forests of Wisconsin!  Black River Falls is an old river town located in the west central part of the state.  2010-11 is my 32nd year of teaching and my 21st in the Black River system.  I graduated from West Fargo High School in North Dakota and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota from 1975-1979, earning a B.A. in History and Political Science.  I also have a Master's Degree in History (UM-Moorhead, 1985).  Thanks for the visit!
