House Project is Building on a New Concept

The Construction 2 Class at BRFHS was approached by Farm Urban Realty to build an affordable new house for a family in Black River Falls.  After all the details were ironed out, the partnership was formed between Farm Urban Realty and the various departments at the HS-- Technology Education (Construction 2), Family and Consumer Education (Housing), Agriculture (Landscape Design), and English (Media Coverage). This is an excellent, real-world project that involves many students in different departments in the high school and many different local businesses.

The Black River Falls Construction 2 Class started building the home on Van Buren Street in the fall 2007 with the partnering of Farm Urban Realty. The Black River Falls Family and Consumer Education department is selecting the finishing selections for the exterior and interior choices of the home, the Agriculture department will be starting the landscaping in the fourth quarter, and the English department is taking photos, writing articles, and including updates in the Paw Print, local newspapers, Insights and high school newsletter and website.

The house has three bedrooms and two baths. It boasts a gas fire place and a walk out deck on the main floor. The basement is finished off to be a living area with a walk-out door. There is an attached two car garage as well.
