Gebhardt Elementary Nutrition Services Receives $3,200 from the
National School Lunch Program –Equipment Grant.
Connie Seiber DTR CD, Nutrition Services Supervisor at the Black River Falls School District, has received an equipment grant in the amount of $3,200.00 from the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment-National School Lunch program-Equipment Grant. The purpose of the grant is to improve the infrastructure in schools while stimulating activity in the economy.
The equipment of a proofing/heating unit has been purchased and is installed in the Gebhardt elementary kitchen.
“This grant is very important to our department,” says Mrs. Seiber. “The Gebhardt Elementary school has been in need of this unit. We will gain energy efficiency, higher production rates and save money on utilities throughout the year. It will enhance the productivity and food quality.”
The National School Lunch Program –equipment grant was requested in June of 2008. The Black River Falls School District was notified in September of 2009 that they were awarded these dollars and the equipment was then purchased.
Children need healthy meals to learn. The School District of Black
River Falls offers healthy meals every school day.
Lunch will be served starting the first day of classes.
