About BRFHS
Mission
We are a caring community of adult and student
learners. Our staff focuses on preparing students for life
after high school.
Curriculum
Our school, a member of the Coulee Athletic
Conference, has close to 50 teachers and 12 instructional
support staff
serving over 650 students in the main school and in 2 alternative
settings. We offer a complete curriculum including Advanced
Placement classes, an extensive technology education department,
distance learning classes, Spanish classes,
as well as classes from agriculture to physics.
Students
BRFHS students represent several ethnic groups
including European, Native American, Hispanic, Asian and African
American.
Our building serves students with all types of disabilities,
both physical and cognitive, and we support the inclusion of
special needs students whenever possible.
Staff
The professional staff at BRFHS participates
in classes, seminars and workshops to improve and enhance their
expertise. Fifty-three percent of our teachers have advanced
degrees, and several more spend many weekend and summer hours
working toward them. Monthly school late starts provide even
more extended staff development opportunities, keeping our staff
up-to-date.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Students at BRFHS have a wide variety of
opportunities outside the classroom. We offer more than a
dozen sports, a number of academic teams, several award-winning
vocational student organizations, and various clubs and
activities. For the more performance-oriented students, our
music and drama departments present concerts, plays, musicals,
parades, madrigal dinners and variety shows in the well-equipped
Lunda Theatre.
Visitors
Parents and visitors are always welcome at
Black River Falls High School. We do request that you come to
the main office to sign in. Parking can be found at the east end
of the school and, for short time periods, on the south end, if
no buses are expected.
