WEEK IN REVIEW March 12, 2010 Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped to make this year’s Winter Carnival a success. By the turn out and the number of smiles I saw last night, it looked like everyone had a great time. By the number of raffle tickets I emptied into the trash at the end of the night and the number of students at the various games, I would hope we made a lot of money for the PTO (do not know the profit yet). Without community support, events like this just can not happen. So, again thank you to all that helped! Special thank you should go to the parents of the PTO Carnival Committee, all the families who donate raffle items and Gebhardt Principal Mrs. Severson, who did the lion's share of coordination for this event. Kindergarten Registration: Do you have any children who are kindergarten age (5 yrs. old before September 1, 2010) and plan to start school next fall? If so, PLEASE call elementary Forrest Street Early Learning Center at 284-9406 and give the secretary some preliminary registration information. This information will be used to generate a mailing list to send you information about kindergarten. Reminder: School starts at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 2:51 p.m. We ask that students not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. for supervision reasons. Parents please remember that parking in front of the school and the district office on both Third (morning and afternoon) and Fourth Streets (afternoon) is reserved for buses. The BRF police department asked that I remind parents that they do patrol these areas and will issue tickets for cars parked in these areas during loading and unloading times. Parents dropping students’ off in the morning should use the Fourth Street side of the school, as only one bus comes into the school on that side. Parents picking up students at the end of the day should pick their student up at the picnic tables on the Third Street side of the building. Students who have not been picked up when the staff returns to building, at the end of day, will be brought to the office. 2010/11 Request: In the near future, the administration will be working on the development of class lists for the 2010/11 school year. If you, as a parent, have a preference regarding the classroom placement of your child for the 2010/11 school year, you should submit the School District’s “Teacher Request Form” to the principal to whom you are making the request, no later than Friday, April 1, 2010 – 3:00 p.m. These forms are available from the any of the elementary school offices. A request does not guarantee the placement requested. Also, please remember that in many cases, students rotate amongst a group of teachers to best meet the student’s individual educational needs.
