Overview

The School District of Black River Falls bus fleet is owned and operated by the school district. The school bus garage is located just west of the high school at 1212 Pierce Street. The office hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The garage is usually open at 6:00 a.m. for telephone calls. The staff of twenty-five full-time drivers, a secretary, and a mechanic are all members of the BRFESPA Union. The substitute bus drivers and the transportation supervisor are not members of the union. The transportation fleet consists of twenty-one large buses, three handicap-equipped buses, two twenty-one passenger buses, a nine-passenger van and two cars. The twenty-one large buses run two routes daily and the four smaller buses run three routes daily for the handicap and early childhood students. They do not run on Friday noon, as early childhood students only attend Monday through Thursday. The primary purpose of school bus transportation is to transport all school- aged students to and from school in the safest manner possible. The District also provides bus transportation to and from all sporting events and on educational field trips as requested by teachers and principals. The school bus drivers drive approximately 1,000 in-district and out-of-district trips annually. The school buses travel over 500,000 miles annually. All transportation complaints should be directed to the Transportation Supervisor at the bus garage. He can be reached at 715-284-2557 or 715-284-9658 during office hours.
