April 27, 2018: Community-Wide Job Fair

April 27, 2018

Hello Black River Falls Community! This is Dr. Shelly Severson with the School District of Black River Falls here to share this week’s installment of our Spotlight on Schools! Today I’m going to highlight a great event happening at the Black River Falls Middle School. On Friday, May 4, they will be hosting a Career Fair and Community Wide Job Fair. The School District of Black River Falls has partnered with the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Workforce Development Job Center to coordinate this event.

The event will begin with a 2-hour Career Fair for the 8th Grade Middle School Students. We have almost 30 companies that are looking forward to connecting with future employees and helping grow their pipeline of future workers by raising awareness of their businesses and career fields. Employers will be providing experiences to engage 13-14 year-old 8th grade students, such as: hands-on experience or simulation, showing samples of the products their company makes, samples of tools, machines, programs their business uses, demonstrations, and other interactive options. Students will be engaging with employers to find out more about the field, their company specifically and ask additional questions.

As if this isn’t exciting enough, in our ongoing efforts to engage the greater community, this will be immediately followed by a Community Wide Job Fair in the Middle School Gym from 1:00pm-5:30 pm. Employers are looking to recruit workers for current and future open positions. We encourage people that are considering changing jobs, underemployed or seeking a job to attend the Job Fair. Employers are seeking applications and can even conduct on-site interviews! Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume, or they can print one on site! This means that if you fall into any of those categories, underemployed, wanting to explore new possibilities, or need a job, there will be over 30 employers all gathered in one location for you!

For more information about this upcoming event, contact: Amanda Gunn at the Chamber of Commerce: (715) 284-4656 or Stephanie Brueggen at the School District Office: (715) 284-4357 ext 1204

The school district recognizes the workforce needs in our area and are committed to partnering with the community to connect employers with future and current employees. We are looking forward to a successful event for kids and the community as well!

As always, thank you for your support of the School District of Black River Falls. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me! Let’s show our Tiger Pride in all that we do!
