Learning happens everywhere, but taking our students beyond the classroom walls makes history come alive in a whole new way.

Our recent field trip the The Highground gave students a chance to honor local Veterans in person while exploring historical monuments and events up close. Out-of-building experiences like this help our kids connect what they read in textbooks to real people and real stories right in our region. We are so grateful to the Veterans who spent time sharing their stories with our Tigers!

Big recognition for an extra special educator at Red Creek!

Lori Spaude, one of our fabulous second-grade teachers, was selected by Co-op Credit Union (CCU) to receive an Outstanding Teacher Award. CCU stopped by her classroom in September to surprise her in front of her students and present the award.

Lori brings heart, patience, and energy to her classroom every day, and we're so proud to see her hard work recognized by our local community!

Please join us in giving Mrs. Spaude a huge congratulations!

Bright smiles, big dreams, and new adventures—Day One is almost here!

From dressed-up royalty to fresh school gear, our hallways were buzzing with excitement as our students stepped into a brand-new school year during last week's open house, but that was JUST the start!

There is nothing quite like the energy of the first morning back, seeing old friends, meeting dedicated teachers, and diving into new possibilities.

We are ready to learn, grow, and shine together all year long. Welcome back, Tigers! Let's make this year unforgettable. #tiGRRpride

Tomorrow is the big day! We can hear the hallways buzzing already.

As you try on those first-day outfits, here is a quick attendance checklist to ensure a smooth, stress-free start to the year:

✅ Bookmark the school number: Save your child's school attendance line in your cell phone so it's handy if you ever need to report a morning absence. Find all your contact info here: https://www.brf.org/page/attendance

✅ Establish the launchpad: Set up a designated spot near the door for backpacks, shoes, and coats to eliminate morning chaos.

✅ Prepare your backup plan: Talk with a neighbor, family member, or fellow school parent about carpooling or helping out if your morning routine ever hits an unexpected snag.

We have missed your children so much over the summer. Let's start the year strong, consistent, and together. See you next week! #tiGRRpride #attendancematters

Our third graders went on a time-traveling adventure during summer school, session 2! Using a homemade time machine, our historians explored history through hands-on fun:

🎨Prehistoric Times: Painted original cave art
🛡️Medieval Times: Designed custom family coats of arms
📜Ancient Egypt: Crafted papyrus and personalized cartouches
🥤The 1950s: Learned the Twist at a sock hop while sipping milkshakes!

To wrap up the trip, students made time capsules filled with their memories and future dreams. They will stay sealed until graduation day in 2036, a special gift for their future selves! Don't you wish you'd been able to time travel with them? #tiGRRpride

Embers Rising Dance Studio is offering a fun new opportunity for young dancers! Join Mrs. Marianna for a Pom Pom Party where participants will dance with pom poms to some of their favorite music, learn proper pom dance arm positions, practice kicks, leaps, and jumps, and create a fun craft to take home.

The class will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 11:00 AM–12:30 PM at the Red Creek Elementary Gym and is open to ages 5–10 for just $10. Participants should dress for movement by wearing leggings or shorts, a t-shirt or leotard, and sneakers—just like they would for gym class. Check the comments for a link to register!

After yesterday's heat, doesn't this look like a fantastic idea?

Last week's summer school session was all about hands-on learning and making memories with friends, and a sure-fire way to make memories is to make a splash in the pool. Hope everyone has a wonderful, sun-filled fair week! #tiGRRpride

We are five weeks out from the first day of school! This week, we want to give a special shout-out to our youngest learners in Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Starting school is a big milestone, and building the habit of regular attendance right now sets the foundation for your child's entire educational journey. Did you know that missing just two days a month in kindergarten can make it harder to learn to read later on?

Here are a few gentle things you can do this month to prepare:

⏰ Gradually adjust bedtimes: Start moving bedtimes up by 10 minutes each week so the first morning isn't a shock to the system.
⏰ Talk it up: Keep conversations about school positive and exciting to ease any transition anxiety.
⏰ Map out appointments: Try to schedule routine check-ups during summer days or after school hours whenever possible.

Want to learn more? Here’s a great resource! https://www.attendanceworks.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/K_1st_Handout_012925.pdf

We can’t wait to see those big smiles on day one! #tiGRRpride #attendancematters

Learning geometry is a total treat in Mrs. Gerdes's summer school class! These tigers designed 3D castles to practice angles, perimeter, and spatial shapes. A few creative designs even featured chocolate doors—because why not?

We love seeing our students build confidence, master new skills, and bring joy into the classroom every day. Way to go, mathematicians! #tiGRRpride

School is just six weeks away, and we are already getting excited to welcome your children back into our classrooms!

At the School District of Black River Falls, we view our families as our greatest partners. As you start thinking about the upcoming school year, we want to talk about one of the biggest ingredients in your child’s success: regular attendance.

When students are here every day, they don't just stay caught up on schoolwork. They build deep friendships, grow their confidence, and feel a sense of belonging. We know life gets busy, and challenges happen. That’s why we’re here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to make this year amazing!

Our doors are always open. If you have questions or need support preparing for the year, please reach out to your child's school office! #tiGRRpride #attendancematters
