Please join us in celebrating three incredible athletes for their post-season state honors:

BRF senior Anna Janowski earned the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Rachel Kenyon/Bible "Unsung Hero" Award Winner. Anna is a statewide standout for her work ethic. Coach Mathison notes that Anna was an "easy recommendation" for this honor, citing her "relentless energy hunting pucks" and calling her the "heart and soul of our team's penalty kill," which led the entire state with a 94.8% efficiency!

Tomah junior Cam Steele and Tomah sophomore Piper Mathison earned 1st Team All-State recognition. Additionally, Piper was named one of only five finalists for the Molly Engstrom Award (state's top defenseman).

"As a staff, we feel that we are blessed to have them and our entire four defenders that patrol the blue lines for us," said Mathison.

Drop a "🏒🔥" in the comments to congratulate Anna, Cam, and Piper!

Our Tigers took their talents on the road! This past Sunday and Monday, ten of our standout BRFHS musicians headed to Decorah, IA, for the prestigious Dorian Band Festival at Luther College. It was a whirlwind weekend of rehearsals, private lessons, and world-class performances! Our students represented Black River Falls across three elite ensembles:

🎵 The Symphonic Band (Auditioned)
🎵 11-12th Grade Massed Band
🎵 9-12th Grade Massed Band

Between rehearsals, students caught amazing sets by the Luther Jazz and Concert Bands, and two of our Tigers even scored one-on-one private lessons with Luther professors! After a day and a half of intense practice, they capped it all off with an absolutely outstanding final concert.

A huge round of applause for this year’s participants:
Jaide Charles, Roree Charles, Vance Christensen, Andrea Cogswell, Charlie Cook, Rylie Dobson, Casso Eagen, Bailey Goldsmith, Kendall Kampen, and Grace Tande.

We are so proud of the dedication and artistry these students show every time they pick up their instruments!

Which instrument do you think is the hardest to master? Let us know in the comments! 👇 #tiGRRpride #DorianBandFestival #TigerMusic #LutherCollege #BandLife

There’s nothing like the energy of tournament basketball! The Tigers opened the WIAA postseason in last night, securing an 84-73 victory over Elk Mound.

It was a clinic in balanced scoring, with four Tigers hitting double digits. Braylon Backaus was unstoppable, putting up a massive 34 points to lead the charge. Will Rahmlow provided the spark from deep, knocking down a couple of big "threes" on his way to 13 points.

The Box Score Leaders:

🏀 Braylon Backaus: 34 pts
🏀 Will Rahmlow: 13 pts (2 triples!)
🏀 Cole Gearing: 12 pts
🏀 Gavin Bolger: 11 pts

One down, more to go. The journey continues this Friday as we head out to take on Mosinee at 7 PM. Check the comments for a link to the video stream. Let's keep this momentum rolling!

During Homecoming, we are proud to celebrate two outstanding Tigers whose impact reaches far beyond the field and classroom.

This year, we welcome Steve Peterson (Class of 1970) as our Distinguished Alumni inductee. Known to many as “Petey,” Steve has dedicated his life to serving our community—as a coach, official, Parks & Recreation Director, and most importantly, a mentor to generations of youth. His leadership and love for Black River Falls continue to shine through every park, program, and Tiger game he supports.

We also proudly induct Tom Stetzer (Class of 2001) into the Athletic Hall of Fame. From leading the Tigers to the WIAA Division 3 State Championship game, to setting records at UW–Platteville, to playing professionally, Tom’s career has been remarkable. Yet, it’s his humility, leadership, and joy for the game that truly define him.
Please join us in congratulating Steve Peterson and Tom Stetzer—two true examples of #tiGRRpride and Inspiring Excellence!
