Didn't we tell you that you'd be meeting this year's interns today? We're excited to introduce Morgan, Jada, and Lily—our student media interns for the school year.

These three seniors handle a lot of moving parts behind the scenes, from planning coverage to capturing daily life across our district. Morgan serves as our Red Creek representative, Jada covers Forrest Street, and Lily keeps us connected with the middle school. Because they're based at the high school, they team up to cover high school together.

Organizing schedules, shooting photos, and managing content takes real effort and teamwork. We can't wait to show you the story of our schools through their eyes! #tiGRRpride

Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes as the first of three media picture days kicked off yesterday. Our new media interns stepped right into action, organizing team lineups and directing athlete poses like pros. (Keep an eye out tomorrow to meet the intern team!)

Thanks to a generous grant from the Black River Falls Educational Enrichment Fund, our students are taking their sports photography to the next level using brand-new studio flash equipment.

We love seeing our students explore hands-on career skills while capturing Tiger athletics! #tiGRRpride

Whoever said the first day of school was all lectures and syllabi clearly hasn't met the BRFHS Class of 2030!

Our National Honor Society leaders kicked off the year by welcoming incoming freshmen with a morning packed full of high-energy team-building. From cardboard maze challenges to scooter races and icebreakers, our newest high schoolers jumped right into the fun.

Seeing our upperclassmen step up to mentor and connect with the incoming class sets the tone for an incredible year ahead.

Welcome to Black River Falls High School, Class of 2030! We are so glad you're here.

Our cross country runners are building awesome momentum!

At Westby’s Ken Trott Invitational, the boys took 6th out of 15 teams—just 4 points off 5th! Lukas Cornelius finished 13th overall, while freshman Caleb Ellingson earned 25th as the top freshman finisher. Freshmen Aaron Thurow (35th), Caleb Biddle (66th), and senior Jay Pleinis (68th) rounded out scoring. For the girls, sophomores Audrey Kitowski (58th) and Farrah Laufenberg (67th) led the team, followed by senior Grace Tande (88th).

The Tigers kept pushing at the 9-team Cashton Invitational this past weekend and came away with many great performances! Sophomore Lukas Cornelius placed 12th in a field of 100. Caleb Ellingson and Aaron Thurow placed 24th and 25th, respectively. Farrah Laufenberg led the girls team in 38th place. And check out that middle school race--Emma Kitowski ran her first race came in first while Ashley Biddle was in 9th and Avery Biddle was in 14th. The MS boys team saw Eastyn Brown take 17th and Bryce Kitowski in 18th.

Next up: The Jesse Brone Invite at Cochrane-Fountain City High School on Thursday, September 3. Let's keep running strong, Tigers!

From dressed-up royalty to fresh school gear, our hallways were buzzing with excitement as our students stepped into a brand-new school year during last week's open house, but that was JUST the start!

There is nothing quite like the energy of the first morning back, seeing old friends, meeting dedicated teachers, and diving into new possibilities.

We are ready to learn, grow, and shine together all year long. Welcome back, Tigers! Let's make this year unforgettable. #tiGRRpride

Only one day to go! Today, we want to talk openly about what happens when attendance gets tough. We know that transportation hiccups, health struggles, and personal hardships can make getting to school a challenge. If a student accumulates 5 or more unexcused absences, state law classifies it as habitual truancy. But before any official paperwork is ever filed, please know our primary goal is to help, not punish. If we notice your child is missing school frequently, here is how we will partner with you: 🍎 Listen first: Our staff will sit down with your student to understand what’s getting in the way. 🍎 Find resources: We will work to connect your family with school and community resources (like transportation assistance, counseling, or academic support). 🍎 Build a plan: Together, we’ll create a supportive team strategy to get attendance back on track. Legal interventions are always a last resort. If you are struggling to get your child to school, please talk to us early. We are in this together! #tiGRRpride #attendancematters

Text on image: We've got your back(pack). Decorative backpack on graphic.

Tomorrow is the big day! We can hear the hallways buzzing already.

As you try on those first-day outfits, here is a quick attendance checklist to ensure a smooth, stress-free start to the year:

✅ Bookmark the school number: Save your child's school attendance line in your cell phone so it's handy if you ever need to report a morning absence. Find all your contact info here: https://www.brf.org/page/attendance

✅ Establish the launchpad: Set up a designated spot near the door for backpacks, shoes, and coats to eliminate morning chaos.

✅ Prepare your backup plan: Talk with a neighbor, family member, or fellow school parent about carpooling or helping out if your morning routine ever hits an unexpected snag.

We have missed your children so much over the summer. Let's start the year strong, consistent, and together. See you next week! #tiGRRpride #attendancematters
