Moving up to middle school is a big step, but finding your footing early makes it an exciting adventure! Join 6th-grade teachers Jessica Pehl and Ryan Boerger as they unlock 6th grade in a fun, interactive transition class.

While it isn't required, we highly recommend it for all of our incoming 6th graders to help them get comfortable in their new environment before the hallways fill up. Students will tour the building, master locker combination locks, walk through their daily schedules, and complete an epic school-wide scavenger hunt.

Sessions run on Monday, August 3, or Tuesday, August 4 (choose either 8:00–11:00 AM or 12:00–3:00 PM). Sign up using the Google Form link below to become a middle school expert! (Note: If you already submitted a paper copy, you're already on the list!)

Please join us in celebrating the retirement of Scott Tubbs!

Scott is wrapping up an incredible 32-year career in education, including 22 years in Black River Falls. As a special education teacher, he has brought patience, care, and advocacy. His passion for helping students grow didn't stop at the classroom door, either; Scott spent much of his time investing in our athletes by coaching basketball, golf, football, and baseball.

In his well-earned retirement, Scott is looking forward to spending plenty of time outdoors golfing, hunting, and fishing. Scott, thank you for your 32 years of dedication to youth development and your 22 years of service to the Tiger community.

An incredible 35 years—and she gave every single one of them to our Tiger community! Please join us in wishing a very happy retirement to Kirsten Meier.

Kirsten dedicated her entire professional career to our district, shaping our youngest learners as a first and third-grade teacher before spending her last 14 years helping students discover a love for reading. It takes a very special educator to lay the foundational building blocks of education, and Kirsten has left an undeniable, lasting mark on generations of Black River Falls students.

In her well-earned retirement, Kirsten is looking forward to traveling and stepping into her favorite role yet: being the ultimate fan and cheering on her four grandsons at their many sporting events.

Kirsten, thank you for your unmatched dedication, warmth, and 35 years of service to our schools. You have changed so many lives for the better, and we wish you a retirement filled with joy, family, and wonderful new adventures! #tiGRRpride

He’s a classroom legend, a gridiron fixture, and a lifelong Tiger. Please join us in celebrating the retirement of Larry “Smokey” Severson!

Smokey spent 27 years teaching special education and driver’s education. Beyond the classroom walls, he is famous for pacing the sidelines as a football coach for an incredible 28 seasons!

He is officially retiring from the classroom to enjoy well-earned time traveling, golfing, and teaching his granddaughters how to hit the links, but Coach Smokey isn't hanging up his whistle just yet! He will continue to serve as our Head Football Coach on Friday nights.

Smokey, thank you for your 27 years of incredible patience, dedication, and impact in the classroom. We are so grateful for your continued leadership on the field and wish you the absolute best in your well-deserved retirement! #tiGRRpride

The Paw Print Live staff kicked off the 2026-27 season with a movie night under the stars! Executive Producer Peyton Taylor organized a perfect sunset gathering on the football field to welcome new team members. The crew caught up on the latest news, munched on popcorn and homemade cookies, and watched The Hunger Games.

With over 40 staffers stepping into the studio for morning announcements this month, this relaxing evening was the perfect way to connect faces and names. We love seeing our students build community and support one another right from the start. #tiGRRpride

Congratulations to 2026 graduate Nate Gargulak, who capped off his high school shooting career at the absolute top of his sport by becoming the 2026 State SCTP Grand Champion in Singles Trap!

Competing against a field of over 1,900 athletes at the state trap shoot, Nate shot his first-ever perfect score of 100 straight. That earned him a spot in a four-way afternoon shoot-off for the grand title. Under immense pressure, Nate did it again, shooting another perfect 25 straight to clear the field and take home the state crown. What an unbelievable way to peak at the perfect moment!

Our entire varsity squad put on an historic show, securing our program’s highest finish ever by taking 7th place out of 94 teams—missing out on first place by a mere 11 targets! The squad finished with an incredible combined score of 478/500:

Nate Gargulak: 100
Roman Madvig: 96
Reece Youngthunder: 95
Huston Arnaud: 94
Sawyer Ewing: 93

We also want to celebrate the many personal bests shot by our Intermediate and JV competitors over the three-day championship. We are so incredibly proud of the dedication, focus, and sportsmanship of all our Shooting Tigers. Please join us in the comments in celebrating Nate and the entire team!
