First graders are over the moon 🌙 with their new hands-on astronomy unit! They built constellations from marshmallows and toothpicks (talk about edible engineering at its finest, right?) and used Oreos to explore the moon's phases. The boys basketball team took their game to the Viroqua High School gymnasium last Thursday night. Viroqua took a 10-point lead at halftime through BRF's zone defense after a cold shooting start for the Tigers. BRF climbed back into the game with a better shooting performance in the second half. BRF got to within one point but couldn't climb into the lead, and when the last buzzer rang, the scoreboard read 63-57. Cecil Lopez and Nolan Boehm led the way for the Tigers with 16 points each, followed by Braylon Backaus with 12 points, Archer Grant with 4 points, Zaedyn Roseth with 3 points, Will Sedelbauer with 3 points, and Lyndon Greengrass with 2 points. It was another competitive effort by the Tigers! Come out and watch them at home on Tuesday night! They'll be taking on West Salem in the Fieldhouse. Game time is 5:45 and 7 PM--and the pep band is performing, so be prepared for extra entertainment!

Senior Bella Falcon lit up the scoreboard with an incredible 23 points, while Kenley Brown was right behind with 11. Even more impressive? We've got a recap of the boys basketball game at Sparta on December 10 for you! Black River Falls dropped its third game of the season in a non-conference game against a high-octane Sparta offense 74-61. BRF played them tight the entire game until the 5-minute mark in the second half when Sparta took the lead for good. BRF's 2-3 zone defense had Sparta playing slower and BRF's balanced offensive attack also gave Sparta problems. Braylon Backaus led the way with 22 points, Cecil Lopez and Lyndon Greengrass each had 11 points, and Zaedyn Roseth had 9 points. BRF showed a lot of heart and competitiveness for the third straight game but lost control of the game towards the end. BRF will be looking to get their first win of the season on Thursday at Viroqua!
